The Argaman Institute was founded to serve as a home and intellectual incubator for learning, research, and writing on the core issues facing Israeli society.
Its programs are designed to enable students and researchers in the social sciences and humanities to immerse themselves in the best of conservative and classical liberal thought, foundational pillars of the modern world, while providing generous scholarships that offer the peace of mind and focus needed for deep study. For participants seeking to enter broader circles of influence, the Institute cultivates the intellectual foundation necessary to do so.
Argaman, the Color of Royalty
The deep purple-red hue has been associated with governance since ancient times: “Its base is gold, its seat is purple,” wrote the poet in describing King Solomon’s palanquin. Depth and stability, gravity and responsibility have long been woven into the color that adorned the garments of leaders throughout the generations.
In this spirit, the Argaman Institute seeks to cultivate in all who pass through its doors a clear and profound view of reality, one deeply rooted in our cultural and historical heritage yet reaching toward the future of the people of Israel. We aspire to join the tradition of curiosity, scholarship, and intellectual depth essential to forming a leading intellectual elite, and equally to the ethos of integrity, responsibility, and commitment.
The Institute’s broad range of activities, including seminar groups and lectures, writing, and research, serves as a home and incubator for visionary leadership, distinguished, thoughtful, and innovative, that will guide and contribute to the continued flourishing of the Zionist enterprise, both in thought and spirit, and in public policy and civic action.
